Six years ago I ran for Indiana Secretary of State as a Libertarian, this experience profoundly changed my experience of civic life in America. The mainstream political parties are endowed with many donors and very deep pockets. Indeed, the culture of campaigning often looks like money laundering from the outside. The cause of this is that the players. are indeed seen as power brokers and the wealthy wish to curry favor with them, once curried, the candidates want to maintain the financial perks that got them there. So, it’s a dance, it’s not really bribery but it’s not innocent either…. but what it is, is huge dollars.

Third Party candidates seek to disrupt the current political scene with new ideas and change the game. They have no power, but they have numbers of like minded people pursuing the same goal.

A Republican or Democratic campaign may spend tens of thousands of dollars a month on IT, whereas a motivated Libertarian might only raise $10-20 thousand for the whole cycle. When I ran, I was a seasoned IT professional. I got some hosting and several software programs and emulated the mainstream candidates entire setup. Since then, I have learned Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing and am now getting ready to offer a set of tools and processes for the third party candidates to compete with. These processes will better enable these candidates to manage a group of volunteers, communication with constituents, events and much more.
